Scottsdale is making a notable showing in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Southwest, with five restaurants recognized in the guide’s first selection covering Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. FnB earned a Bib Gourmand for chef Charleen Badman’s seasonally driven celebration of Arizona farmers and producers, while Hush Public House, Indibar, Reserve and Shinbay received Michelin Recommended honors. Reserve’s wine director, John Germain, also received a Sommelier Award, while Badman was recognized with a Mindful Voices Award for her work advancing sustainability and food access through the Blue Watermelon Project.

The selection follows Michelin’s expansion into the Southwest and its evaluation of restaurants based on quality of ingredients, harmony of flavors, cooking technique, culinary personality and consistency. For travelers, the recognition puts Scottsdale’s increasingly diverse dining scene firmly on the culinary map, highlighting everything from Arizona-focused cooking and Indian cuisine to Japanese omakase and sophisticated wine programs.

The Curated Take: Michelin’s inaugural Southwest guide gives travelers another reason to put Scottsdale on the itinerary. More importantly, the range of honors shows a destination dining scene that goes well beyond resort restaurants, with local ingredients, global influences and chefs who are putting their own stamp on the Southwest.
