Fall in Seattle Southside brings a distinctly international flavor, led by the newly expanded Global Dining District in SeaTac, formerly the World Table District. Along International Boulevard, locally owned restaurants, cafes and markets invite travelers to taste their way through the region, from Ethiopian coffee and Salvadoran specialties to birria tacos and Peruvian cuisine, while new public art adds another layer to the experience. The district is also set to grow with future international night markets and additional placemaking projects.

The season extends well beyond dining. Des Moines Marina Oktoberfest brings three days of waterfront festivities September 18–20, including an OktoberCrawl and an Oktoberfest Brews Cruise on Puget Sound, while fall itineraries can combine wooded trails, seasonal nursery displays, spa time, farm-to-table dining and the Seattle Chocolate Factory. New openings, including Haidilao Hot Pot, Immersive Gamebox and THE GUNDAM BASE, add even more reasons to explore the region, alongside fall events ranging from bonsai workshops and foliage festivals to Halloween at the Museum of Flight.

The Curated Take: Seattle Southside’s appeal this fall is its sheer variety. Rather than positioning itself simply as an alternative base for visiting Seattle, the region is developing experiences that reflect its own cultural diversity, independent businesses and waterfront communities. The result is a destination where a fall weekend can move effortlessly from global dining to local art, outdoor exploration and a stein overlooking Puget Sound.
