At Oliverra, the signature clifftop restaurant and bar at Umana Bali, LXR Hotels & Resorts, cocktails become a way to explore Balinese philosophy, nature and the passage of time. The new The Life of the Tree cocktail book draws on Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese principle of harmony among the divine, humanity and the natural world. Its nine-drink collection follows the symbolic life cycle of a tree, moving from seed and roots through trunk, branches, flowers and fruit to fallen leaves, transformation and new beginnings.

Set against the limestone cliffs of Ungasan, where Mediterranean-inspired dining meets Bali’s tropical landscape, the collection combines layered spirits, house-made syrups, botanical infusions, tropical fruits and local aromatics. Each cocktail is intended to express a different mood or stage of life, from the sensory awakening of Namirasa and the grounded connection of Genitri to the reflective complexity of Niscaya, the floral elegance of Padmasari and the contemplative finish of Walmiki. The result is a bar experience designed to unfold through taste, presentation and storytelling rather than simply a list of drinks.

The Curated Take

The most intriguing aspect of The Life of the Tree is its invitation to slow down and consider a cocktail as a moment of ritual. By linking each drink to an idea such as growth, renewal, wisdom or letting go, Oliverra gives guests a more thoughtful way to engage with Balinese culture without separating it from the pleasures of the bar. It is a reminder that a sense of place can be expressed not only through architecture and cuisine, but also through what is poured into a glass.
