Kuganha Brings Private In-Suite Wellness to the Western Cape Safari
September 17, 2026
Kuganha has opened in South Africa’s Western Cape, introducing a new take on the luxury safari experience within a 10,000-hectare rewilded Big Five conservancy less than two and a half hours from Cape Town. Limited to just 10 private tented suites, each measuring at least 320 square metres, the property combines safari, conservation and an unusually comprehensive approach to private wellness, with the entire experience designed around each guest’s own pace.
Wellness is built directly into the suites, rather than confined to a traditional spa. Guests have access to private saunas, steam rooms, a Himalayan salt oxygen halotherapy room, flotation deprivation pods, ice plunge baths, jacuzzi plunge pools and double massage beds, along with an introductory wellness journey to guide them through the facilities. The culinary program follows the same personalized philosophy, with fresh, organic and locally sourced ingredients tailored around each guest’s wellness journey. Meals can be enjoyed privately or at the Kuganha restaurant overlooking the infinity pool, waterhole and surrounding Karoo landscape. Beyond the suites, the property’s rewilding story adds another dimension, with Big Five wildlife reintroduced to land where many species had disappeared centuries ago.
The Curated Take
Kuganha is tapping into an intriguing evolution in luxury wellness: the desire to retreat from the world without giving up the comforts, privacy or personalization of a high-end stay. Here, wellness is not a schedule of treatments guests move through during the day. It is embedded in the accommodation itself, then paired with wildlife, open landscapes and conservation. The result is a safari experience where the natural environment is not simply the backdrop, but part of the restorative proposition.
