Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan Reframes the Riverside Suite Experience
September 18, 2026
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has unveiled the first seven suites in its sustainability-led refresh, introducing five Premier Duplex Suites and two Premier Family Suites that bring a contemporary interpretation to the resort’s signature relationship with the Ayung River valley. Created with Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the redesigned spaces pair floor-to-ceiling views with hand-loomed textiles, locally crafted details, natural materials and a refined residential feel. Pale, earthy tones echo Ubud’s rice terraces, while dark stained teak grounds the interiors and integrated smart technology remains intentionally unobtrusive.
The 85-square-metre Premier Duplex Suite unfolds across two levels, with a river-facing living and dining area, teak-and-textile bedroom and private sun terrace designed for lingering. The Premier Family Suite takes a more tailored approach to multigenerational stays, placing a dedicated children’s room at the center of the experience while giving parents a generous living space overlooking the valley. Sustainability is embedded in the renovation itself, with the existing framework refurbished rather than rebuilt, locally sourced materials selected for longevity where possible, and energy-efficient lighting and next-generation air conditioning incorporated into the design.
The Curated Take
Sayan’s appeal has always been rooted in the feeling of being immersed in the landscape rather than simply looking at it. These first reimagined suites build on that idea without abandoning the resort’s distinctive architecture or Balinese character. The result is less a wholesale reinvention than a considered evolution, with the river, craftsmanship and sense of place remaining the defining elements.
