Margaret River’s Open Studios Turns the Region Into a 300-Kilometre Art Trail
September 21, 2026
The Margaret River Region will once again become a destination for art lovers when Margaret River Region Open Studios returns September 12–27, 2026. Australia’s largest open studio event brings together 155 artists across a 300-kilometre creative trail stretching from Busselton to Augusta, inviting visitors into the working spaces where art is made rather than limiting the experience to traditional galleries.
The event offers an unusually personal way to explore the region, with participating artists representing disciplines including painting, pottery, printmaking, millinery, mosaic, woodworking, textiles, illustration and installation art. Studios are located in a range of distinctive settings, giving visitors the opportunity to meet artists, see works in progress and discover the creative communities that shape this corner of Western Australia.
The Curated Take:
Open studio events change the way travelers experience a destination because they make the creative process part of the journey. In Margaret River, the format also encourages visitors to venture beyond familiar wine-country stops, following a trail that connects artists, landscapes and communities across the region.
