The original Grand Tour was as much about how travelers experienced Europe as where they went. Anantara Hotels & Resorts and Alfa Romeo are bringing that idea into the present with the Anantara Grand Tour of Europe, pairing scenic driving routes, Italian craftsmanship and stays at luxury hotels with a slower approach to travel.

The first journey, the Dolce Vita Tour, traces a particularly evocative route through Italy, beginning at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel and winding through the Castelli Romani and along the coast to Sperlonga before continuing to Ravello and the Amalfi Coast. Guests travel in Alfa Romeo models ranging from the classic Giulietta to the contemporary Giulia and Stelvio, with opportunities for more performance-oriented Quadrifoglio models. Along the way, the itinerary layers in seaside lunches, family-run vineyard tastings and leisurely walks beneath Positano’s pastel-colored skyline before concluding at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel.

The Curated Take: The appeal here is less about checking off Italian landmarks than about reclaiming the pleasure of the journey between them. By putting the road, the automobile, local food and hospitality on equal footing with the destination, Anantara and Alfa Romeo offer a contemporary interpretation of slow travel with a distinctly European sense of style. Future itineraries will extend the concept to the French Riviera, Málaga to Marbella, Dublin to Amsterdam and a route through Europe’s Imperial Capitals.

The Dolce Vita Tour is now available to book through Anantara’s European Grand Tour collection.
