Coastal Mississippi is trading beach days for haunted nights this October, with Halloween celebrations stretching across 62 miles of Gulf Coast from Gulfport and Biloxi to Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis. The season ranges from the elaborate sets and live actors of Terror on the Coast, a 40,000-square-foot haunted attraction in Gulfport, to family-friendly festivals, costume parades and community celebrations. The result is a distinctly coastal take on Halloween, with historic downtowns, beaches and waterfront communities providing the setting rather than a traditional theme-park backdrop.

The calendar also offers reasons to experience the Coast after dark in less expected ways. Ocean Springs hosts a candlelit string quartet performing Halloween film scores, while its Witches Ride brings hundreds of costumed participants through downtown in support of local animal welfare organizations. Bay St. Louis turns its historic Old Town into the setting for a Witches Walk, and Biloxi adds live music and cultural events, including the Moonlight Masquerade and a performance by Here Come the Mummies. For families, Boo Bash, Fall Fest and Brick or Treat at TrainTastic provide gentler ways to join the season.

The Curated Take: Coastal Mississippi’s Halloween appeal comes from the way the celebrations are woven into the destination’s individual communities. Rather than one large seasonal attraction, visitors can move between historic districts, beach towns, music venues and local festivals, experiencing different sides of the Gulf Coast along the way. Halloween becomes an excuse to explore the region, with seafood, arts, shoreline and Southern hospitality providing the backdrop between events.
